About 1.8 million households that received Federal subsidies through the Affordable Care Act “now have issues with their tax returns that could jeopardize their subsidies next year.” Lori Lodes, director of communications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said, “There’s still time, but people need to take action soon.” Lodes notes that individuals who received tax credits “are required to file tax returns that properly account for” the subsidies, and failing to accomplish the task means “they will not be able to receive tax credits” for 2016.
